Introduction

Dear students,

Since the successful launch of the certificates in April 2009, there's been lot of talk about these programs. In this website we hope to provide you with all the information you need about certificates.

A certificate is a set of courses corresponding to approximately 100 contact hours, business projects and other types of field work related to a given sector. Some are offered by leading companies in specific sectors, others are launched by HEC individually.

The idea of the certificates stemmed primarily from our ambition to further increase the quality of education offered at HEC. At first, the courses offered were dedicated to a given sector (media, luxury...) but only limited coordination took place between the different teachers regarding course content. In addition, on top of the great opportunities for specialization offered at HEC, we believed that there was a need for a complementary (and more transversal) academic approach based on a given sector. We decided to solve these two issues by providing a coherent group of courses.

In order to give a higher profile to students who decided to enrol in such certificates we decided to award a "certificate" to all students who successfully complete the requirements of any given certificate. These requirements can vary from one track to another.

Who can choose to enrol? These certificates are scheduled from April 12th to early June, precisely because we want to offer a complementary academic experience for those students who are approaching graduation. Tracks are therefore primarily dedicated to students in the second year of the Master of Science in Management (Grande Ecole program), or students enrolled in our 1 year (specialized) master programs and MBA students.

Last year, three different certificates were launched: Energy, Real Estate and Social Business. This year, the choices offered have increased with the addition of the Luxury Strategies certificate. We hope you will enjoy it!

Yours sincerely,

Eloïc Peyrache
