Jean Paul HUCHON is an Adjunct Professor at HEC Paris, where his teaching focuses on institutions and public governance.

Jean Paul has had a successful career as a high-ranking civil servant and has vast and rich political experience. He entered the Budget Department at the Ministry of Finance in 1971 as a civil administrator and became head of the Agricultural Department in 1978. He was Chief of Staff for the Prime Minister from 1988 to 1991, then Minister of Agriculture before taking charge of the Caisse Nationale du Crédit Agricole in 1985.

He subsequently held senior executive positions in the Private sector, as Managing Director of the Pinault Printemps Group (1991-1994), then President of the recruitment firm Progress Associés (1995-1998)

As part of his local mandates, Jean Paul served for many years as Deputy Mayor (1977-1994) and then as Mayor (1994-2001) of Conflans Sainte Honorine. He was also elected president of the Regional Council d’ Ile de France on three occasions between 1998 and 2015.

Jean-Paul was appointed a member of the board of directors of the Banque Publique d’Investissement in 2013 and then Co-Chairman of the Advisory Committee for future Investments at the Commissariat General d’Investissement in 2017.

Jean Paul is an Officer of the Legion of Honor and a Knight of the National Order of Merit. He holds a Bachelor's Degree and a Doctorate in law, a prize of the faculty of Law (1968) and is a graduate of both the Institut d'études politiques (IEP) of Paris and the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA). He is also the author of several books: ‘Le marché commun contre l’Europe’ (1972), ‘Jours tranquilles à Matignon’ (Grasset, 1993), ‘La montagne des singes’ (Grasset, 2002), ‘Ceux qui aiment ne peuvent pas perdre’ (Plon, 2004), ‘De battre, ma gauche s’est arrêtée’ (Seuil, 2008), ‘C’était Rocard’ (L’Archipel, 2017).
