Amy Sommer received her Ph.D. in Business Administration in 2009 at the Richard Ivey School of Business, The University of Western Ontario, Canada. At Harvard University in 2010, she completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Her research examines how organizational crisis and temporal dynamics influence teams and leadership in four areas: (1) expertise and decision-making, (2) resilience and adaptation, (3) creativity and innovation, and (4) new research methods.
Her work is published or forthcoming in Leadership Quarterly, Group and Organization Management, Organizational Dynamics, and Technological Forecasting and Social Change. She has received a number of awards and recognitions, including Best Paper Based on a Dissertation Award Finalist in Healthcare Management at the Academy of Management in 2010, Best Dissertation at the Richard Ivey School of Business in 2008, Canadian Association for Graduate Studies/ UMI Distinguished Dissertation Award Nominee in 2008, and a Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada Doctoral Fellowship.
