Raúl Barroso received his Ph.D. at the University of Lausanne in 2009. His dissertation, Three essays in Swiss corporate governance, focuses on the institutionalization of corporate governance mechanisms in Switzerland, the determinants of the composition of the board of directors and the role of significant shareholders in the performance of corporations.
He also holds a BA in Business Administration from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid as well as a MSc in International Management from the University of Lausanne. From September 2009 to August 2010, he was a visiting scholar at COI.
He was funded by the Swiss National Foundation to work on a research project covering the corporate governance of financial institutions. The project compares the evolution and inflünce of the international corporate governance in the financial industry. Additionally, his research interests include network analysis, particularly on shareholders and directors networks and the political ties of corporations.
