Assurance Intern at EY

My experience at HEC Paris and the MFE program has given me the tools to thrive in any work-environment

Prior to joining HEC Paris, I graduated from Boston University with a double bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration. I interned as an auditor at the EY Doha office in June 2015.

A formidable alumni network

I chose HEC Paris because of its strong international reputation as a business school. The global and active alumni base was also an important factor as I wanted to ask for advice and gain perspective on the economic and business environment.

After my education in Qatar and the United States, I wanted to build upon my international and leadership experience by studying in France. HEC Paris provided the perfect opportunity to study in a leading business school and learn from a different culture.

An experiential pedagogy

The MFE program appealed to me because of its courses that blend theory and application. With a constantly changing environment, I wanted to learn how theoretical economic concepts can be applied to real-life situations. The program exceeded my expectations as I have had the chance to take a wide array of courses such as strategic consulting, mergers & acquisitions and econometrics. The classes are also taught by some of the best academics and practitioners in their respective fields. Not only have I learned a lot about specific topics, but I have also sharpened my presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Interactions with the very best companies

From outside the classroom, my study and networking trips to Luxembourg and London were highlights of my time at the MFE. I was able to attend numerous presentations and connect with a wide variety of companies. I was also impressed by HEC Paris’ career events as each fair and presentation brought together fantastic firms to share their insights. KPMG-led workshops – held on campus – also allowed me to improve my presentation and case study skills. I have had the privilege to attend presentations from the Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey, EY, Deloitte, PwC, BNP Paribas, Amazon and PayPal.

An extraordinary student body

The diversity of the MFE student-cohort is a definite plus as everyone brings forth different ideas or thoughts, which is refreshing both academically and socially. The intellectual strength of the MFE group allowed me to push myself on a daily basis, and I have enjoyed learning from my classmates. Indeed, we have all become life-long friends.

A foundation for success

HEC Paris has given me a platform to build a successful career. With my strong career aspirations in mind, I want to get into a field that enables me to use the quantitative, economics and finance skills that were bolstered in the MFE. My experience at HEC Paris and the MFE program has given me the tools to thrive in any work-environment.
