At HEC Paris, there is a strong sense of belonging to a real team made of concerned and fully engaged people »

I am from France, and before HEC Paris I took a Master of Philosophy at Paris-Sorbonne. Firstly, I chose HEC because of its reputation which is top of its class among the French and European business schools. Also I had heard that the Masters in Sustainable Development at HEC was one of the first to be launched and had some proven experience in this field along with a large range of specialists who would be invited as guest speakers during the program.

Now, I work in the Sustainable Procurement Department at SNCF, where I manage a team of 5 specialists who are in charge of implementing sustainable development in the procurement strategies and of managing the suppliers in CSR risk strategy and the KPIs.

Looking back on the time I spent at HEC, I would definitely say that I had a great time with the other students. At HEC Paris, there is a strong sense of belonging to a real team made of concerned and fully engaged people. It also gave me a great opportunity to come in contact with the best specialists in the main sustainable development fields: business strategy, carbon finance, immaterial assets and of course sustainable procurement which I have decided to choose as my new carrier.

For anyone who wants to follow a career in the field of sustainable development, I would say that leadership and creativity are the main qualities needed to drive change towards sustainable development among purchasing organizations. It also involves a change of culture which requires relationship capabilities as well as being able to communicate with strong conviction that a new way of doing business is possible. The HEC Masters of Sustainable Development gives great opportunities for students to gain those competencies.
