Business Development Manager, Sofreco, Paris
MSc Sustainability and Social Innovation, Class of 2009. Previously at ESPCI ParisTech
I would advise any students who aspire to pursue a career in this field to just go for it!
I’m a French ESPCI multidisciplinary engineer; I had fun with biology, chemistry and physics – with an emphasis on medical imagery physics.
Before HEC Paris, I had faced challenges that required a complementary set of skills to make the difference – and I wanted to develop my knowledge of the CSR and BoP fields. So the Sustainable Development Master was the perfect match. Another extremely interesting part of the master is the liberty that you have to choose between the tracks. I enjoyed having the basic management courses: for a young engineer, it’s something really new and motivating. Previous situations come to light with another interpretation. The more specialized SD courses, then the Track, coupled with the consultancy project, made us go deeper into questioning what we were expecting from the program.
From people, professors, guests, students, and partners… This MSc gave us the opportunity to connect with exceptional varied networks and the right space to learn and share with them. The SB/EP track – we were in the first batch! - was another occasion to meet with interesting individuals, on both sides of the teacher’s desk.
I would advise any students who aspire to pursue a career in this field to just go for it! I believe that many opportunities are developing abroad in BoP / SB and reverse innovation is a growing thing. But ask to be on the field, it’s worth it!
