ClimatUP: Acto for Climate

In 36 hours on May 22nd and 23rd, you will think, market, and build your startup or NGO project with a team composed of young professionals coming from different backgrounds.

  • Cop 21 and the Paris agreement made 2015 an important year. Now, in 2016, it is time for entrepreneurial innovation to provide solutions more than ever.

Bearing this is mind, ClimatUP wants to create an ecosystem where people with different backgrounds (engineer, businessman, students or people with experience, ...) meet up and advance projects together.

In 2015, the first edition of ClimatUP - HEC took place on the HEC campus at Jouy-en-Josas. In 2016, we have decided to organize this event in the Latin Quarter, a central place in Paris, so that the ClimatUP can be accessible to as many people as possible.

Do you have an idea in mind? If everyone keeps his ideas in his corner, innovation will still be far. Let's work together to transform ideas into projects, and make projects come into success. For example, the Fresh Square project, whose team emerged during ClimatUP 2015, which now has been awarded many times and is now developing in Berlin!

It is important to develop further and go beyond boundry: to find how to carry out a project, to find partners, to communicate, to build the network, and eventually to sell. For this reason, the ClimatUP encourages and accompanies participants to go through many phases: ideation, development and final presentation before jury. With our forces as individuals, companies, laboratories, associations or campus, we search together innovative solutions in this transition, such as new products, social spaces, technologies, industrial processes or business models.

Come with your skills, your ideas and your desires to share a moment of collective intelligence.Enjoy ClimatUP to test your ideas or complete those of others.

To inspire, motivate, and support the pro-climate entrepreneur : this is the goal of Climatup.

Gawad Kalinga at HEC Paris

Come and meet 5 young entrepreneurs supported by the Filipino Gawad Kalinga NGO, who work hard to "hack poverty" with social entrepreneurship!

  • GK

Gawad Kalinga (GK), which means “to give care”, was founded in 2003 by Antonio Meloto. It is a movement that builds integrated, holistic & sustainable communities in slum areas and remote rural communities with a vision to end poverty for 5 million Filipino families by 2024.

GK’s plan, called GK 777, is split into three "phases" each of 7 years:

    • 2003-2010 – 1st phase : Social justice with social impact. GK created 2300 communities all over the country alleviating poverty for 1 million families.
    • 2011-2017 – 2nd phase: Social artistry. For GK communities to be self-sufficient, GK launched in 2010 the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI) to serve as an incubator for local and international social entrepreneurs and create jobs in the Philippines.

To date, GK-CSI has incubated several successful social enterprises such as Bayani Brew and Plush & Play. It today supports younger projects such as  FreeBirds or Oh GK.

    • The GK 777 thirsd phase will be 2018-2024: Social progress by working on scale and sustainability of what have been established earlier.
