Can we fix the banking system?

Five years on from the Financial Crisis, the need for robust means of financial regulation has never been stronger. David Thesmar, an HEC Paris Professor and former Eurozone forecast manager for the Ministry of Finance explains that "The key modern challenge for an effective means of regulation for the financial system is…implementing a means of monitoring to enable us to evaluate the network as a whole." He believes that a potential solution to this would be the idea of "limited purpose banking."
