Keep It Professional at the Office Cube

The Times of India, 2 November 2013

A research paper on professionalism, co-written by Eric Luis Uhlmann, Assistant Professor at HEC Paris; Emily Heaphy, Boston School of Management; and Luke Zhu, Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, is set for publication in the Journal of Organizational Behaviour. The paper looks at displays of one's personal life in a professional environment and how this is viewed in different countries. Americans tend to be against the overt presence of personal life in the work place and consider those who disregard this custom as less professional. Jeffrey Sanchez-Burks who has conducted this research at Ross School, University of Michigan explains "how we think about professionalism isn't universal."
