'Some French academics are resistant to change'

thelocal.fr, 23 May 2013

Following recent news about whether or not Higher Education Institutions shouldbe teaching their courses entirely in English, the local.fr has interviewed Kevyn Yong, a Professor of Organizational Behavior at HEC Paris. Yong, originally from Singapore, has also taught in the US, and has found that his classes in France are significantly more culturally diverse and with more of a gender balance. He enjoys teaching in France because he can do it in the way that he likes. Yong recognizes the concerns expressed about the possible dilution of the French language if classes are only taught in English. However, he also believes that the language of academia is English and that being able to work in English and also speak French is an invaluable skill.
