HEC Paris’ Masters in Finance study trip at The City of London

Students of Masters in Finance (MIF) and of the Finance Major of the MiM "Grande Ecole" programs have been given the exciting and unique opportunity to attend talks and conferences in London this weekend, 19th – 21st September 2013. Many networking events were organised with the HEC Alumni Bureau in the UK - one of the most important in the world, with numerous active members working in the City.

The first evening in London was marked by a cocktail organised by Loïc Fery (H.97), CEO of Chenavari and head of HEC Alumni Bureau in the UK, and held at the Caledonian Club with around 200 participants in attendance.

Saturday was a full day of activity with conferences beginning early morning at Tower Hill in the Société Générale offices. Welcome speeches were given by Patrick Legland, Global Head of Cross-Asset Research at Société Générale and adjunct Professor at HEC Paris and Ian Fisher, Group Country Head and Head of the Coverage and Investment Banking Division for the UK. Up next was an M&A Case Study given by Chris Thomas (Director, Oil and Gas MA team), a presentation on Debt Capital Markets (DCM) by Demetrio Salorio (Global Head of Debt Capital Markets), and another on Market Risk Advisory by Antoine Jacquemin (Global Head of Market Risk Advisory Group and Deputy Head of Corporate Sales for Western Europe, Interest Rates and Forex Derivatives for Corporates).

The afternoon was then spent at the London Stock Exchange, with further talks and presentations on Corporate Strategy, Financing and Growth Strategies.

More informal networking opportunities with HEC alumni in London included a "pub crawl" on Friday night.
