HEC Paris and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) develop an exchange program called HIEP

8 January 2010

HEC Paris and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) have successfully extended their on-going partnership, HIEP 2009.

In the first year of the HEC IIMB Exchange Program (HIEP 2009), fourteen IIMB students selected for this program visited Paris from December 6-12, 2009. They were immersed in the European business environment through a series of classroom lectures given by HEC Professors and visits to top French companies such as Dassault Systems, LVMH, Fauchon, Schneider Electric and Areva. They also had the great opportunity to visit the “Assemblée Nationale”, as well as fully experience the Champagne Valley and its famous Champagne Houses.

On Tuesday 8th December, HEC Paris and the HIEP students had the honour to welcome Mr Mohan Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in France. He addressed the HIEP participants with a conference on "New Challenge for an all relationship".

Similarly, fourteen HEC MBA Part-Time students visited IIMB during September 7-12, 2009. These students are working executives across a number of industries. They are of different nationalities, coming from countries such as Italy, Brazil, France, the USA, Senegal and France. During their one-week stay at IIMB they visited a number of companies and attended lectures.

The HIEP is a new student exchange initiative at HEC Paris. As part of this initiative, up to twenty students from IIMB will visit HEC Paris and an equal number of students from HEC will visit IIMB every year. The HEC students will work on joint projects with their Indian counterparts on topics of mutual interest. These projects are expected to lead to a deep appreciation of the business environment on both sides, in a short period of time.

The HIEP is a new piece of the fruitful collaboration between HEC Paris and IIMB confirming the strength of their partnership. This program is a unique opportunity for cross-cultural learning of business and management in both France and India.

The HIEP received the full support of the Embassy of India in France and of the Paris Chamber of Commerce. It is expected to lead to further collaborative initiatives in research and management education between the two institutions.
