HEC Paris launches Executive Master in Finance

8 September 2015

The program will start on 9 September 2015 in Paris and targets finance directors and other high-level finance professionals.

Designed as a modular program, it will last 14 months and will be delivered in Paris, Doha and London, bringing together academic experts from HEC Paris, London School of Economics and Paris School of Economics, as well as leading finance and banking practitioners.

The key objectives of the program are to broaden the understanding of advanced finance trends and topics, to enhance quantitative skills and negotiation techniques through hands-on problem solving, to develop global perspectives and to boost networking opportunities.

Jacques Olivier, academic director and Finance Professor at HEC Paris, underlines that the course offered is a full-fledged Masters program and will be delivered in a modular format in order to accommodate the professional lives of executives.  He adds that: "the recent financial crisis has shown that it can be very costly for corporations to allow too large a knowledge gap to develop between banking professionals and finance executives. Our objective is to bridge this gap as finance executives need to be able to assess independently the investment strategies, structured solutions and restructuring advice provided to them by investment bankers. Our approach of combining teaching by internationally renowned researchers, who are authorities in their respective fields, and top investment bankers adds value to the program and sets it apart.”

Christopher Polk from the London School of Economics will be teaching part of the course. A respected figure in the field of equity markets and asset management, he has served as an advisor to the EU European Securities and Markets Authority and as a consultant to the Bank of England, as well as having taught in leading business schools. This continues HEC Paris and LSE’s long history of collaborating on programs, most notably with the TRIUM EMBA.

World-renowned professors also teaching in this Executive Master include Professor Denis Gromb, who has taught at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, London Business School and INSEAD before joining HEC Paris in September 2015 and Associate Professor of Strategy Gonçalo Pacheco de Almeida, previously affiliated with NYU Stern.
