Strategies for Russian and International MNCs, a joint conference of GSOM SPbU – HEC Paris in Moscow

October 4th 2012 saw St. Petersburg University Graduate School of Management (GSOM SPbU) and HEC Paris jointly hold an international management conference and debate on "Strategies for Russian and International MNCs following on from Russia’s recent and momentous accession to the WTO" under the Patronage of H.E. French Ambassador to the Russian Federation Mr. Jean de Gliniasty at the French Embassy in Russia.

The event was moderated by Sergey Litovchenko, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Russian Managers Association. Mr. Jean de Gliniasty opened the ceremony with a welcome speech, pointing out Russia’s Accession to the WTO has become one of the most significant events of the year: «Russia's Accession to the WTO will allow to increase investment in Russia, modernize the Russian economy and thus strengthen its position on the world stage».
 
GSOM SPbU and HEC Paris have joined up forces to unite experts from both the business and academic domains to discuss the needed strategies for Russian and International MNCs following Russia’s entry to the WTO, and management skills necessary to support these organisations’ growth and development.

A group of inspiring key note speakers shared their views with the audience, from Professor Valery Katkalo, St. Petersburg University Vice- Rector and Dean GSOM SPbU, to Professor Bernard Ramanantsoa, Dean of HEC Paris. Other speakers included Vassily Dermanov, Associated Professor, Department of strategic and international management of GSOM SPbU, Dmitry Shakhanov, Vice-President of Russian Railways, François Bloch, Deputy CEO of Rosbank, Igor Karavaev, Director of Strategy and Investment of Rosatom, Vladimir Rudashevsky, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC "Sistema", Felix Blinov, CEO of Roswagonmash Investment Group, and Alexander Abramkov, head of the internal audit unit, controlling and risk management of JSC "INTER RAO UES".
 
The conference focused on a dialogue between the leading business schools and the companies on how to help senior executives turn into truly inspiring leaders, able to operate successfully in the global markets and sure to thrive and excel with the challenges that they face.
