The AMP Fashion and Luxury "Paris Experience Week" comes to the campus

12 May 2011

Today HEC Paris welcomes a group of 19 participants from the current Advanced Management Program Fashion and Luxury class. This program was launched in 2006 by Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, the Institut Français de la Mode and HEC Paris.

After six three-day modules in China, the "Paris Experience" provides an opportunity for participants to understand the keys of success of the Haute Couture fashion and luxury industry in France.

The week-long 'experience', which kicked off on Tuesday 10 May, includes encounters with key players in the fashion industry in Paris; privileged visits to important places in the history of French fashion (such as the historic private homes of famous French designers and the ateliers of major luxury brands); conferences with experts working with French and Chinese brands; and workshops and practical experiences in order to understand the role that French culture and a specific approach to creativity have played and continue to play in the evolution of this industry.

During this unique seminar, participants have the opportunity to visit Chanel, La Maison du Chocolat, Cartier and Printemps. On Saturday, they will have an exceptional guided visit to the cellars and historic headquarters of the Veuve Cliquot champagne house in the city of Reims.

The day on campus includes a presentation seminar by Professor Vincent Bastien* on "Winning Strategies for Brand development" and the opportunity to meet HEC Paris alumni currently working in the luxury industry at an evening dinner and cocktail party.

*Prof Bastien is the coauthor, with Prof Jean-Noël Kapferer, of The Luxury Strategy: Break the Rules of Marketing to Build Luxury Brands .
