Jacques Olivier Elected Dean of the Faculty and Research

16 December 2015

The permanent faculty of HEC Paris has elected Jacques Olivier to the position of Dean of the Faculty and Research. Professor of finance and economics at HEC Paris since 1996, Jacques Olivier graduated from ESSEC and holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. He has directed HEC Paris’ flagship Master in Finance program for 8 years, having lifted it in 2011 to first in the world for “pre-experience Global Masters in Finance ” according to the Financial Times, an accolade it has maintained ever since.

His ambition for the Faculty and Research
“Thanks to the support of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and the HEC Foundation, the last 20 years have allowed us to renew and internationalize the HEC faculty”, underlines Jacques Olivier. “My mission will be to bring to HEC Paris professors whose work has a strong academic and societal impact, and who have genuine expertise in the way they share their knowledge. International visibility and impact on public debate are the new challenges which the HEC Paris Faculty must rise to over the next few years.”

Jacques Olivier will take over from Pierre Dussauge, whose 4-year mandate comes to an end on 31st December
“Our objective of excellence must continue to be founded upon our research”, outlines Peter Todd, Dean of HEC Paris. “Thanks to the remarkable efforts of Pierre Dussauge, 2015 has been a record year in terms of published research articles by our faculty. Our professors are today producing management research which becomes a global reference, and HEC figures unquestionably amongst the 50 best institutions in the world for research. Tomorrow, it must feature in the top 20. I am counting on Jacques Olivier to drive and guide the faculty towards achieving this goal.”
