Vincent Meyer is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Management and Human Resources at HEC Paris under the supervision of Professor Françoise Chevalier. During the spring of 2016 he has also been a visiting assistant in research at HEC Montréal.
His research focuses on international human resource management, and the transnational transfer of performance management practices in Multinational Enterprises in particular. Drawing on both International Business literature and Sociomaterial literature, he proposes that culture and technology are deeply entangled in the transnational transfer of management practices. His research shows, in the Chinese context in particular, deviant practices that lead local units to bypass middle management due to cross-cultural differences, as well as to the design of the performance management tools. His findings also reveal local innovative approaches that translate the American principles of the performance management technology, such as a “Harmonious” perspective on Performance Management.
