What arts brings to management: A focus on artistic interventions in companies

A.Terret, 1 June 2013

[AMO Publication] This research aims at understanding how artistic interventions in companies may enrich management. We define an artistic intervention as a situation in which persons, products and practices, coming from the artistic sphere, enter a company. Our reasoning is based on a qualitative method, made of 18 semi-structured interviews and a text analysis. We find that an artistic intervention brings diverse elements to management, at different levels : at the individual level, it contributes to personal development, at the collective level, it strengthens group cohesion. Artistic interventions are based on several devices, and the artists sometimes make with participants, sometimes make for participants and sometimes observe participants make themselves.
