The MS Finance HEC is for graduates of higher education in France or abroad, with at least four years of education after high school. A strong quantitative background is required to follow the program. Each year, the majority of students on the program are graduates from top engineering schools. Other profiles are also to be found, although they are a minority: university graduates in math, physics, statistics, economics or IT. We may sometimes accept business school graduates, but this remains the exception. Minimum proficiency in both English and French is also required as courses are taught in both languages.

Holders of a B.BA degree from a foreign university are eligible for our M.Sc. program in finance: http://www.hec.edu/hec/eng/mif/

The admission process is composed of two phases:

Pre-selection

The decision on whether applicants are pre-selected is based on strictly academic requirements: priority is given to graduates of first tier engineering schools, as well as students having achieved very good results in other high quality schools or universities. Particular attention is given to the results achieved in subjects of relevance to finance (applied math, econometrics, etc.).
The results obtained in management ability tests (TAGE-MAGE taken between 12/01/08 and 4/18/09 or GMAT within the previous three years) and English tests (TOEFL or TOEIC within the previous two years) are also taken into account at this stage.

Interview

The interview with a panel of professionals, professors and alumni is reserved for applicants who have passed the pre-selected phase. The aim is to get to know the applicant, and to check the quality of the match between the applicant's projects and goals with the MS Finance HEC.
The interview is also an opportunity to test the abilities of applicants in aspects that are necessary to succeed in the program : level in math, French and English, and desire to work in the field of finance.
