| Finance is a field in which the techniques that are used change very quickly. Consequently, the content of a specialized finance program must keep up with these changes. A school such as HEC Paris School of Management cannot rely exclusively on faculty members who only teach. All those teaching courses on the International Finance Specialized Masters have two activities: they are either researchers whose work is published in the leading scientific journals and contributes to pushing back the frontiers of knowledge in their field, or they are finance professionals whose teaching is inspired each year by their experience in the profession in a fast-changing and highly competitive environment. |  |

A professor who will be teaching a Finance Specialized Masters course for the first time in 2008/09: David Thesmar
Since September 2007, a genuine revolution of the curriculum has been underway in the MS Finance, with two key preoccupations: to offer a wide range of elective courses covering all the fields of finance, and to enhance the corporate finance courses which were too limited in number. On top of this, classroom performance of the professors on the program is assessed each year, which can lead to changes being made to the teaching team in case of inadequate performance.

Most of the courses dispensed from January through to April are taught by practicing professionals who apply and enrich the conceptual content of the fundamental courses taught in the fall by researchers.
A researcher from HEC: Thierry Foucault
The three most prestigious scientific journals in finance are the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics and the Review of Financial Studies. It is in these three journals, and most particularly in the first one, that the fundamental articles that have revolutionized finance in the last 30 years have been published. HEC is one of the very few European schools whose professors regularly publish articles in these three journals.
