Candidature

The impact of international issues on corporate life is decisive, and the demands of international business bring companies face to face with specific risks. The proliferation of local and regional conflicts has clearly demonstrated the importance of geopolitics and country risk analysis.

The uncertainties generated by the sub-prime crisis of summer 2007, for example, have highlighted the weaknesses of the American economy and the risk of “domino effects” on the world economy. Rate and exchange risks remain at the very heart of financial analysis, and as for business intelligence activities, they have now become a key concern for companies.

The specific managerial skills involved in managing overseas subsidiaries and preparation for working as an expatriate are a major focus of the course. Likewise, management science, information science, law, technology and political science all have their applications in international risk issues. Finally, risk management, arbitrage techniques, insurance and reinsurance are now key activities for companies faced with globalization processes obliging them to think increasingly internationally in all their growth strategies.

In this perspective, the originality of the Specialized Masters lies in the fact it prepares students for new professions calling on skills in a wide variety of disciplines. On the strength of HEC’s know-how in international management, this Specialized Masters course calls upon students to analyze concrete situations, and provides them with the methodological tools they need to do so.
