HEC's team of Accounting and Management Control professors is dedicated
to research and international cooperation. The
department's aim is to strike a balance between modern theories,
practical application and innovative teaching methods.
Areas
of research
The department focuses on the following main research areas:
- International accounting
- Goodwill and intangible assets
- Creative accounting
- Value creation
- Financial analysis
- Internal Auditing
- Performance measurement and management
- Management chart
- Departmental management control
- Theory of organizations (links between information and decision-making)
- Corporate Control
The department organizes a management control study
and research group which brings together professors
from various institutions (chairman: Yvon Pesqueux).
International
Focus
For a pilot department to guarantee its long-term future, it
must be totally dedicated to the internationalization of the
School, above all through its courses. This is very much a priority
in the Accounting-Management Control department: not only do
the department's professors participate in the International
Track program (a fully English-speaking second year program),
but the department's two majors also admit around fifteen foreign
students from the CEMS program every year.
Links between the department and other international universities
continue to multiply. Cooperation agreements are being developed
with departments at Illinois University and the NPS in California.
Professors actively participate in training programs in Latin
America (Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Chile), in conjunction with
the ESADE in Barcelona, and a number of professors are taking
part in a cooperation project to set up a management school in
Cuba, the DEADE.
The teaching staff who are to participate in this program are
currently being trained, together with Cuban company managers.
Unity and variety; open-mindedness and curiosity: these are
the keywords that students will associate with the HEC Accounting
and Management Control Department, judging from the success of
the department's two majors.
Continuing
education: Developing the company's human resources
The department is also very involved in training senior managers
and business leaders at HEC
MANAGEMENT and offers a number of
programs (in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese) covering
strategy implementation and performance management for both foreign
and French companies.
