Program overview

One of the key, current challenges in the energy market is the development and integration of renewable energy sources in all energy solutions. The renewable energy sector is experiencing strong growth, which has created a significant need for new skills.

This certificate program is run in partnership by École Polytechnique Executive Education, HEC Paris and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UMVIP). The key aim is to develop skills in both engineering and entrepreneurship by addressing the specific nature of the Moroccan and African markets in general.

The program is aimed at:

Engineers in the energy sector, researchers or engineers who are creating start-ups in the renewable energy sector, managers in public institutions or legal practitioners with a project in this sector.

Learning methods

The program benefits from a highly varied learning approach. It features SPOCs (small private online courses), virtual classes, high-level experimental teaching in the research laboratories of École Polytechnique and IRESEN (Green Energy Park), face-to-face courses and exchanges with entrepreneurs and start-up founders.


Composed of 8 days face-to-face learning, 13 weeks of distance learning and 10 weeks to draft and complete the professional project.

The renewable energy revolution, electricity markets and regulations, global and regional energy models, project contracts and risks, and the economics of the electricity sector.

Project financing, financial evaluation, managing variable renewable energy, biomass and bioenergy, energy storage, wind turbine and hydraulic resources, and project management.

Financial modeling of the project, photovoltaic and solar energy conversion, presentation of business cases, smart grids, technological strategy and innovation management.

Experimental work, visit to the Green Energy Park, and the regulatory context in Morocco
