This certificate program is aimed at executives and senior managers working or planning to work in industries and services where energy production and consumption can have significant consequences on the corporate bottom line. It addresses the need for leaders to develop a comprehensive and strategic view of the energy industry and to understand its opportunities, operational challenges, and the emergence of a growing renewable energy industry.

Executives working or planning to work in industries/services where energy production and consumption, and/or greenhouse gas reduction policies could significantly impact the corporate bottom line, and who need to define and implement a corporate energy and climate strategy.

Objectives
Develop a comprehensive and strategic view of energy issues, including climate impact on the global economy
Acquire an in-depth understanding of the energy business environment and market drivers: geopolitics of resources (oil and gas, coal and mining), energy demand structure, producers and end-user strategies, industry organization and regulations
Acquire an in-depth understanding of energy markets, contracts and price formation mechanisms
Acquire an understanding of energy technologies and of their potential impact on the business model
Develop and implement strategies to address issues associated with energy sensitive investment and financing requirement
Reflect on the extent to which climate change (and climate change response policies to include new travel modes and housing/building technologies) will affect corporate strategies worldwide
Learning methods
Participants benefit from a variety of learning methods, including formal lectures, case discussions, simulations, group projects and field visits. Particular attention is placed on facilitating the sharing of knowledge and expertise among participants from different professional backgrounds.

Program
This session provides a comprehensive overview of all aspects of the upstream sector, from conventional energies to renewables. It reviews the major macro trends in the sector, for each energy source, and analyzes reserves, players, markets and price formation mechanisms, investments, costs, and operations.
This session addresses final energy markets, power generation and the new energy system. It focuses on the structure of the electricity industry value chain, power-generating technologies, and electricity market mechanisms.
