In November 2016, HEC Paris launched an ambitious initiative: the Movement for Social*Business Impact (MS*BI). This movement aims at contributing to a more inclusive economy, where businesses seek to maximize their social impact together with their economic performance.

The Movement for Social*Business Impact builds on the academic and research and teaching of the HEC Paris Social Business/Enterprise and Poverty Chair, launched and funded by Danone, Schneider Electric, and Renault in 2008.

MS*BI focuses on four key actions:

  1. Catalyzing world-class research on social business by building on partnerships with the best international academic teams.
  2. Strengthening and broadening teaching opportunities focused on training a new generation of managers.
  3. Accelerating the deployment and scaling up of social business projects incubated in France.
  4. Providing institutional resources to develop international social business incubation models, which offer essential goods and services to the poorest populations.

To co-construct the Movement for Social*Business Impact over a three-year period, the three initial funders of the Social Business/Enterprise and Poverty Chair—Danone, Schneider Electric, and Renault—were joined by new corporate partners, Sodexo and Veolia.

The MS*BI is managed by the S&O Center and the Action Tank Social & Business

It focuses on furthering knowledge in management sciences and supporting the development of HEC Paris according to the following priorities:

  • Providing need- and merit-based scholarships
  • Supporting research
  • Facilitating teaching by providing cutting-edge tools and resources to hire new faculty
  • Developing HEC’s international growth

In 2008, the HEC Foundation began a five-year fundraising campaign, tHECampaign, which raised a grand total of 112 million euros. More and more businesses and alumni actively support HEC Paris’ development projects and are instrumental in maintaining the school’s leadership and future ambitions.

The HEC Foundation counts today over 7,500 individual benefactors, 18 chairs and centers, and 46 partner companies.
