Biography

Pr. Gravereau currently chairs the HEC EURASIA INSTITUTE, a think tank which he founded in 1989 on the campus of the HEC School of Management in Paris, together with prominent corporations both from Europe and Pacific Asia. In Europe, he is one of the leading experts on Asia and on Europe-Asia relations. He is Professor at the HEC School of Management, and a visiting professor at Universities in China and Japan. A regular speaker at major conferences worldwide, he regularly lectures for corporate audiences in Europe and Pacific Asia, including high level briefings at board level*.Pr. Gravereau had a previous business career within multinationals, including operational management of industrial and services companies and board positions. Together with his current assignments, he is a regular consultant to major companies (notably the corporate partners of the Institute), the European Union and the French government.He has published many articles, surveys and several reference books, of which :¿Hong Kong, Analysis of a Boom (1974)¿China after Utopia (1983) (Academy of Sciences Prize)¿Japan, in the 20th Century (1991) (Shibusawa-Claudel prize).¿Japan-Europe : overcoming the imbalances (1992)¿Asia Major : the silent revolution of Pacific Asia (2001)¿Financial crises (Neumann Prize 2002)¿Wall Street: from one crisis to the next (2010)Pr. Gravereau is National Advisor for French Foreign Trade and Chairman of the Committee for North Asia. Also Chairman of France National Committee of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council. Head of the French delegation at the Asia Europe Business Forum and member of the Core Group of AEBF. He is board member of several Companies and of European or Asian Institutions of which (in Asia) : Foundation for advanced Economy, Institute of Global Financial Studies, Center for Strategic and International Studies.Pr. Gravereau holds a Ph.D. in Economics (Sorbonne), is a graduate of HEC and a former fellow of the Institute of Defense and Strategic Studies. Fluent in six languages. Married, with three children. Knight of the Légion d'honneur.
