Guillaume Vuillemey Wins Top Journal of Finance Award for Research on Risk Management
On January 3, 2021, the Brattle Group awarded the “Brattle Prize Distinguished Paper” to Guillaume Vuillemey, associate professor of Finance at HEC Paris. The announcement was made in the course of the annual meeting of the American Finance Association. Vuillemey and his fellow researchers, Adriano Rampini and S. "Vish" Viswanathan (professors at Duke University, in North Carolina, United States), found “strong evidence” that institutions with higher net worth hedge more, controlling for risk exposures, across institutions and within institutions over time. According to the Brattle Group, these Prizes “are awarded annually for outstanding academic papers in the field of corporate finance.” The papers are chosen by the associate editors of The Journal of Finance from papers published in The Journal during the prior year. “The Brattle Group brings together experts in litigation and finance to solve issues of governments and arbitration panels around the world. It supports this yearly award in an effort to recognize academic achievement in offering robust analysis and debate on compelling issues facing the corporate finance community.” (Source: Brattle Group).
