Alicia Palermo

MSc SASI - Inclusive and Social Business Certificate

2020

Alicia Palermo

The Certificate has been an eye-opening experience that I would surely recommend to all business students.

My name is Alícia Palmero and I am currently finishing my Master in Sustainability & Social Innovation.

I enrolled to the Inclusive & Social Business Certificate not only because I thought it offered very up-to-date content but also because I strongly believe that business students must become aware of the global issues that we are facing nowadays. Students must grasp the idea that business has huge potential to change realities and improve people’s quality-of-life.

I had the chance to meet up with a fantastic team. We came up with the idea to bring training and data analysis for governments in order to reduce child sexual abuse. We were thinking of doing so by entering the school environment by training teachers, staff and  government' social workers. We would create a safe environment in schools in order to easily identify and directly report abuses to local government speeding up the bureaucratic process of collection and reporting of cases. With the final aim to reduce its incidence, a strong data analysis would help to better address public policies.

So for us, the business plan was successful and we had a lot of fun. It was very encouraging to dig into the topic, talk to experts and become aware of the reality of the children, the reality within the government and around the school communities.

For me, the Certificate has been an eye-opening experience that I would surely recommend to all business students, not only from HEC but from anywhere!
