Preparing Future Leaders at Ateme: Business Case

Case Study
Published on:

The business case “Preparing future leaders at Ateme” by Valérie Gauthier, Associate Professor of Languages and Cultures at HEC Paris, has been published on The Case Centre. Based on the Professor’s experience and expertise in relational leadership built over 30 years of research and practice, the case explores how and why a growing tech company prepares today’s talents to face tomorrow’s leadership challenges.

The story of the case unfolds around the concept of relational leadership and explores the following:

• How can a relational leadership program engage all members of the company to impact its culture and performance? What are the indicators of success?

• What are the core ingredients of such a program to develop relationships of trust across the company? How can they be delivered over time to make a sustainable impact?

• How difficult can it be for employees to engage in the program and translate their learning into their business practices?

Ateme is a global leader in video compression and delivery solutions founded in 1991. The company’s success depends on speed of execution and fluidity in human relationships of the company’s employees.

The case evolves around the inquiry of Joseph Soueidi, Chief Operations Officer, whose ambition is to continue to build on the company’s success and form a future-ready team of employees who grow and learn together.

WHY THIS CASE?

Based on Valérie Gauthier’s acclaimed book, Leading with Sense (Stanford University Press), participants have an invaluable opportunity to reflect on and hone their relational leadership skills. The tried and tested methodology has been taught to hundreds of students of business education programs, including an online course attended by over 100,000 participants.
