HED: Double-Degree Program from HEC Paris and Yale SOM Will Offer MBA and Master of Advanced Management Degrees
DEK: The partnership between the two top business schools will give candidates the opportunity to earn two master’s degrees in two years—an MBA at HEC Paris, followed by a Master of Advanced Management degree at the Yale School of Management.
The Yale School of Management is expanding its longtime partnership with HEC Paris, one of Europe’s leading business schools, to deliver a unique opportunity that will allow early- and mid-career candidates to earn two master’s degrees in two years in a rigorous global context. The new dual-degree program, which will be launched in January 2024, allows candidates with four to five years of work experience to earn a 14-month MBA from HEC Paris immediately followed by a 10-month Master of Advanced Management (MAM) from Yale SOM. Candidates will be admitted to both programs through a concurrent or consecutive application process.
Students will complete the first 10 months of their MBA at HEC and will receive credit for the remaining four months through courses taken toward the MAM degree at SOM. While at HEC, M2M students will take a slate of core courses designed to sharpen their critical thinking, decision-making, leadership, and collaborative skills. At Yale SOM, students will take required MAM courses with a focus on global leadership and curate a set of electives at Yale SOM and across Yale University, taking a deeper dive into specific areas of interest. Together, the two aspects of the M2M prepare students to lead and have impact in an increasingly complicated, interconnected, global world. They also give students a firm foothold in two key regions in the international economy.
The new double degree expands the offerings of the M2M program, a collaboration between Yale SOM, HEC Paris, and three other top business schools, which also allows students with fewer than three years of work experience to earn two early-career master’s degrees, including Yale SOM’s Master’s in Global Business and Society, in two years.
“Both Yale SOM and HEC Paris have long been invested in fostering a global mindset among their students, and this new dual-degree program is another example of that investment,” said Camino de Paz, assistant dean of Global Network Programs at Yale SOM. “Through this partnership, degree candidates will reap the benefits of exposure to rigorous curricula, cutting-edge thought leadership, and diverse student populations in two different geographical contexts, preparing them to lead and effect change on a global level.”
Yale SOM and HEC Paris are both are members of the Global Network of Advanced Management, a consortium of 31 leading business schools that nurture ties among their faculty and students through coursework, events, and exchanges. In 2017, Yale SOM joined with HEC Paris, as well as FGV Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Business School (HKUST), and Sauder School of Business University of British Columbia, to launch the M2M program.
“HEC Paris is thrilled to partner with Yale SOM to deliver the innovative dual-degree MBA/MAM to a new cohort of qualified applicants,” said Eloïc Peyrache, dean of HEC Paris. “We are proud to lead the way, together with Yale, in equipping the next generation of leaders with the global mindset and the leadership skills they need to meet the challenges of the 21st century.”
