The workshops and practical-oriented classes with guest lectures from the most prestigious companies helped me to improve my skills.
An enriching Environment
Three main reasons drove my decision to study the Master in Management - Grande Ecole at HEC Paris: First, HEC Paris offers an excellent learning experience with small classes, very approachable professors and strong ties to the business world. The second and most important reason for me was the student network. The campus accommodates around 3.500 students from more than 90 countries which leads to a unique intercultural experience. I had the chance to meet many great people from different countries and made friends for life. The third reason is the campus of HEC Paris. While located outside Paris, the university offers more than 200 student clubs and countless sports activities – I joined the arts and athletic club and enjoyed it a lot. On top of this, the campus offers a beautiful forest with a large lake – a terrific terrain for all passionate runners.
Unique and Insightful Experiences
After my gap year with an internship at Google and travelling in Colombia, I decided to join the Strategic Management specialization and this was a fantastic decision. The Strategic Management program offers the perfect possibility to build up highly analytical problem-solving capabilities. This does not only facilitate to join top tier consulting companies but is also a great basis for any other career goal you might have. Especially the workshops and practical-oriented classes with guest lectures from the most prestigious companies helped me to improve my skills. The professors had a strong passion for teaching us. I was often fascinated that our professors could invite members of management - or even the CEO - the companies we had analyzed in a case study just before. This gave us the unique experience to get first-hand information about the business issue and discuss the possible solutions.
The Beginnings of Success
One passion I could develop at HEC Paris in particular was the participation at case competitions. In total, I participated in 10 case competitions, each time with different teams. I was invited to 5 countries on three continents. My highlight was definitely the Harvard International Case Competition in Cambridge in the USA where our team won against 350 teams from all over the world. I also really enjoyed the global finals of the KPMG International Competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where we were selected among 28.000 students and the P&G Case Competition which I won in Madrid, Spain. These experiences were only possible thanks to the generous support of my professors and the school administration, enabling to create the best possible environment to compete.
The most valuable skills which I acquired at HEC Paris are the analytical skills, the intercultural abilities and the close ties to my friends. I feel very well prepared for my future endeavors and will really miss the unforgettable moments at HEC Paris
