HEC Paris Maintains Global Pre-eminence in MiF Rankings

For the ninth time in ten years, HEC Paris’ MSc in International Finance (MiF) topped the Financial Times rankings for the world’s best Master’s degree in finance. The rankings highlighted the school’s unrivalled track record in training the best finance professionals and notably providing “outstanding career progress” to its students and alumni.

“Alone we go faster but together we go further.” The words of the MiF’s Academic Director in 2020 Alexei Ovtchinnikov - relayed on LinkedIn by one of his students, Emanuele Cavaliere (H21) - were part of dozens of congratulatory messages to the MiF team after the Monday June 15, 2020, rankings announcement in the Financial Times. Cavaliere added: “That’s the true spirit of the MiF (and HEC) community. And I am very proud to be part of it.”

MIF’s Executive Director in 2020 Olivier Bossard indicated to the FT on the same day as the rankings publication that the enduring appreciation of the Master is helping his students resist the challenges of the times: “The big investment banks are actually playing a very fair-play game with our graduates,” he says:  "When it comes to job offers, those hiring from HEC are “still fully committed” to take people, Prof Bossard adds”.

Details of the FT MiF classification show the school leaping up the rankings in terms of school diversity, salary percentage increase and career progress rank. It is based on surveys of business schools and of alumni after they completed their Master in 2017. The ranking was suspended in 2019 and so also includes data from 2018 where applicable.
