In April, the HEC UK Office organised the 2nd edition of the Learning Expedition to London for Master in Data Science for Business X-HEC (DSB) students. During 3 intensive days, the students had the opportunity to do company visits, meet with data scientists and network with HEC alumni. This Learning Expedition provided an exclusive chance for students to immerse themselves in the world of data science and its practical applications in business.

Laura Saint-lo (UK Office)

“We were delighted to welcome the 2nd cohort of DSB students in the HEC UK House. Those study trips for our students are a key component of the HEC UK office missions, part of the International Affairs Department of HEC Paris. We are looking forward to welcoming these students again as young professionals in London next year and seeing them join their vibrant alumni community in London.”

Laura Saint-Lo, Associate Director of HEC in the UK

One of the highlights of the trip was a series of meetings with data scientists who are currently working in various industries. These professionals shared their experiences and insights with the students, offering valuable advice on how to succeed in the field of data science. The students could ask questions and actively participate in discussions with these experts, leading to a greater understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with a career in data science.

The HEC Paris UK team was thrilled to host the 2nd cohort of students at the HEC UK House for a networking evening, where they had the chance to connect with our alumni based in London and specialising in data science. These interactions provided invaluable insights into potential career trajectories and opportunities awaiting them post-graduation. A heartfelt thank you to all our alumni for generously sharing their experiences with the students!

This trip provided our students with a fantastic experience, presenting them with invaluable professional prospects: “Great opportunity to meet interesting companies”, “Relevant companies with inspiring speakers”, “The company visits were the right length and frequency, we had the right balance of visits / free time, the diversity of companies was also appreciated. It was really great”.

Overall, the Learning Expedition to London proved to be a valuable and enriching journey for the students of the Master in Data Science for Business program. Their visits of prominent companies, interactions with data scientists, and connections with HEC alumni provided them with insights into the practical application of data science in business contexts. Undoubtedly, this Learning Expedition will equip them for successful careers in this dynamic and burgeoning field.
