The Groupement de Recherche et d’Etudes en Gestion d’HEC (HEC Management Research Group, or GREGHEC) is a joint research laboratory between the CNRS (French National Research Centre) and HEC situated on the HEC campus in Jouy-en-Josas. Created in 2004, the laboratory has been associated with the CNRS since 2006. It encompasses the research activities of the main departments in HEC: Accounting & Management Control, Economics & Decision Sciences, Finance, Marketing, and Strategy & Business Policy. Research in the laboratory thus covers a wide range of topics, and involves the application and development of different and fundamentally pluri-disciplinary analytical frameworks and methodologies. Over the last five years, it has become one of the most important French research centres in Management Sciences and Economics. There are over 120 researchers and professors in the laboratory, including several dozen doctoral students. Its members organise and participate in several regular research seminars, many associated with the various HEC departments.

Thanks to its policy of international recruitment of faculty, HEC has ensured that GREGHEC provides an environment in which young researchers and doctoral students from all over the world interact with internationally renowned experts in their respective fields. Moreover, GREGHEC is the support laboratory for several doctoral programs in Finance, Marketing and Strategy and Business Policy.

The laboratory’s research activities are organised in four main research axes, each of which may involve several departments. The four axes are as follows:

  • Marketing and Consumer Behaviour
  • Leadership and Decision Sciences
  • Accounting and Finance
  • Strategy, Innovation and Growth Policy 

Between 2008 and 2012, researchers in the laboratory have published several dozen papers in internationally recognised scientific journals, including the most prestigious generalist journals(Academy of Management Journal, American Economic Review, Econometrica, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Finance, Management Science, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal …).
