Ratan Tata recipient of Honoris Causa degree from HEC Paris
HEC Paris conferred the degree of Honoris Causa to Mr Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Trusts at a special ceremony held on campus.
A leading business school that selects the highest potentials from around the world, HEC Paris wanted to highlight Ratan Tata's charismatic leadership to its students.
With the success of the Tata Group—and its contribution to India’s industry and national building—under his chairmanship, Mr Tata is a role model for multinational companies in emerging markets. He is equally well-known for his charisma, vision and personal ethics.
During the honoris causa ceremony, Mr Tata shared his vision of leadership and experience of strategic management, and participated in a Q&A session with faculty and students.
The ceremony was hosted by Bernard Ramanantsoa, Dean of HEC Paris, in the presence of Arun K. Singh, the Ambassador of India, Jean-Paul Vermès, Vice President of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Mireille Faugère, President of HEC Alumni.
HEC Paris close ties with India
HEC Paris has recruited students and professors from India since 1982. Today, several professors and 150 students from India are at HEC across all degree programs: the Grande Ecole and Master’s programs, the MBA the Executive MBA and the PhD program.
HEC Paris has signed partnership agreements with the most prestigious Indian business schools including three of the IIM’s: IIM-Ahmedabad (a double-degree agreement between the HEC Master in Management and IIM-Ahmedabad Post Graduate Program in Management), IIM-Calcutta (as part of the MiM CEMS Joint Degree) and IIM-Bangalore (as part of the Master Exchange Program).
