Biographie

Carlos J. Serrano is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Economics at the Department of Economics and Decision Sciences at HEC Paris.

Professor Serrano's research and teaching interests are focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, strategy, and the financing of entrepreneurial activity. His research focuses on the market for patents, the venture capital industry, and the value and use of patents for technology startups. In addition to his doctorate degree in Economics from the University of Minnesota in 2006, he holds a MA in Economics from the University of Minnesota, a MSc in Economics from the University College London, and a BSc in Economics from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. 

Serrano's research has been published in top tier journals including the Journal of Financial EconomicsRAND Journal of EconomicsStrategic Management Journal, the International Economic Review, and Science and has been presented at numerous universities and government agencies.

Prior to his appointment at HEC Paris, Serrano taught at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, University of Toronto, University of Minnesota, and was a Research Fellow at the Bank of Spain, a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University, and a Research Analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis
