Biographie

Tomasz Michalski est professeur associé d'économie à HEC Paris.

Il a rejoint HEC Paris en 2006 après avoir obtenu un doctorat. en économie à l'Université de Columbia et est affilié au GREGHEC et Hi! Paris. Il a également été chercheur à la Banque nationale de Pologne (2001-2006) à la Division des taux de change et à la Banque centrale européenne.

Ses intérêts de recherche portent sur le commerce international, la finance et la géographie économique. Tomasz s'intéresse particulièrement à l'effet des différentes barrières qui entravent les échanges régionaux et internationaux et à la manière dont la technologie affecte ces barrières. Il a travaillé sur divers sujets tels que l'évolution du marché du travail à travers et au sein de la ville, les schémas de localisation de l'industrie, l'intermédiation financière dans le commerce (international) ou les conséquences de l'allocation de portefeuille international sous risque et ambiguïté. Il se spécialise à la fois en théorie appliquée et en études empiriques. Ses recherches ont été publiées dans des revues telles que Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of International Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, the Review of Financial Studies.

A HEC Paris, Tomasz enseigne des cours de Macroéconomie et d'Economie Internationale à la Grande Ecole, divers programmes de Master et l'EMBA. Dans le passé, il a également enseigné des cours de microéconomie et d'offshoring.
