Giving Back to Egypt to Develop Fintech Talent in Cairo

For their very first interview of the year, the HEC United team takes us to Egypt to meet up with one of our Executive MBA alumni, Rama El Safty. Working for the Central Bank of Egypt, Rama has been devoted to meet the country’s ambition since she’s been back from Paris, which is to position Egypt as a hub for FinTech.

Why did she choose theFinTech sector, and how does she intend to fulfill this objective? Our traveling reporters managed to capture Rama’s fantastic journey from Egypt, to Dubaï and on to Paris before returning to Egypt.

Turning Egypt’s into one of the most promising FinTech ecosystems of the region

A tremendous amount of work and passion are needed to meet such a challenge! Since 2019, Egypt has been focusing on positioning the country as a hub for FinTech by facilitating the regulations and laws, attracting funds and investments and focusing on talent for the leaders of tomorrow.

Talent Management is where Rama’s job starts.

My work is to build FinTech talent in the ‘FinTech and Innovation department’ of the Central Bank, with the mission to skill, upskill and reskill Egypt for tomorrow’s digital era.

“The mismatch between the skills needed and skills available is a major global challenge, and a large pool of tech and digital savvy talents is a key driver for growth,” says Rama, who continues to work to bridge this gap.

Watch her full interview to find out all about her journey before, during and after her time at HEC Paris.
