A bachelor’s student in business engineering at KU Leuven with a keen interest in corporate finance, I decided to apply for the Mergers & Acquisitions Summer School Program. Even though the program description sounded very promising already, HEC Paris managed to exceed my expectations.

The program included working on cases with outstanding professors that are true experts in the field of investment banking, as well as some very interesting guest lectures. What I particularly enjoyed was the hands-on approach and the thrilling stories both professors and guest speakers were willing to share. I already had a (rather theoretical) background in finance but during these two weeks I learned a lot of techniques that are applicable in real-life situations. Moreover, the program was not strictly limited to M&A: topics such as IPOs, leveraged buyouts and even artificial intelligence were also covered.

Living all together on campus makes it easy to develop close relationships with your fellow students even though the program lasts only two weeks. And those two weeks really fly by! With extensive sport facilities and a beautiful lake, the campus offers plenty of opportunities to unwind after a full day of classes. Furthermore, being less than an hour from the center of Paris allows you to discover this beautiful city by day and by night.
