Biographie

Les recherches et les cours de Marieke Huysentruyt portent sur l'efficacité des organisations dans leur réponse aux grands défis sociétaux actuels, tels que les inégalités et le changement climatique mondial. Entre autres sujets, Marieke Huysentruyt a notamment étudié les effets des valeurs personnelles, de la culture organisationnelle et des pratiques de management sur la productivité des entreprises (en s'appuyant à la fois sur des constatations expérimentales et sur des données transnationales à grande échelle sur les entreprises sociales), le rôle des motivations individuelles internes et externes dans les performances des entrepreneurs sociaux émergents (avec une expérience sur le terrain) et l'impact de l'empathie sur la réussite des initiatives sociales dans les entreprises (avec des expériences sur le terrain). 

Marieke Huysentruyt a remporté plusieurs prix, dont le Best Paper Award de la 14ème conférence annuelle sur l'entreprenariat social en 2017. Elle a par ailleurs publié des articles dans Management Science, American Economic Journal : Economic Policy et Journal of Risk and Uncertainty notamment. Son travail a été cité dans The Economist et lui a permis de bénéficier de bourses de la Commission européenne et des fondations Research Foundation Flanders et Strategy Research Foundation.

Marieke Huysentruyt est professeur assistant de stratégie à HEC Paris et membre académique du Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics, de la Stockholm School of Economics et d'ideas42, organisation à but non lucratif qui utilise les éclairages de l'économie comportementale et de la psychologie pour résoudre des problèmes sociaux.

Avant de rejoindre HEC, Marieke Huysentruyt a été entrepreneuse sociale, cofondatrice et codirigeante d'Oksigen Lab, accélérateur à but non lucratif et laboratoire de recherche pour l'entreprenariat soci(ét)al, et d'i-propeller, cabinet de conseil accompagnant les entreprises dans le développement de services innovants qui, en plus d'être rentables, ont un impact sociétal positif considérable. 

Marieke Huysentruyt est titulaire d'un master en bio-ingénierie de l'Université catholique de Louvain, d'un master en économie appliquée et management de l'Université Cornell et d'un doctorat en économie de la London School of Economics.
