A Program Matching Industry Trends and Transformation

With the baby boomer generation nearing retirement age, the asset management industry has been growing at a double digit pace over the past decade. New segments in this industry have been developing rapidly including Exchange-traded funds, hedge funds, fintech & private equity with the hope of delivering high profitability with limited risks. The intensive summer program addresses the following topics:

Over the past decade, as the baby boomer generation has been nearing retirement age, the asset management industry has been growing at a double digit pace. Rapidly developing industry segments, including Exchange-Traded Funds (ETF), Hedge funds, Fintech & Private equity, promise to deliver high profitability with limited risks.

This intensive summer program is designed to prepare students for careers in the global asset management industry. Participants will learn to adapt to the developing asset management industry, which is becoming much more and more structured, with actors managing trillions of dollars on every continent.

Based on in-depth expertise from top Asset Managers, the program combines fundamentals with real-life experience. The course is based on real situations and international funds. By the end of the program, students will master financial techniques and the methods to ensure performance delivery for clients, through active and passive asset management. Students will have a thorough understanding of capital market products, investment and asset allocation techniques.

Through ready-to-use tools as well as a practical knowledge base, participants will be able to implement finance strategies and make appropriate decisions. Coursework covers the following topics: Financial Analysis, Valuation, Fundraising, Performance analysis, Compliance issues, Derivatives and Asset management process.

In addition to a 21 hour-focus on the fundamentals, participants will attend several interactive sessions with professionals from the field of Investment Banking and Corporate Finance. Leading speakers, who can include CEOs, asset managers or strategists, will interact with students about their recent fund launches.



Students who fully attend the program and participate in all required elements will develop strong asset management awareness.

Upon successful completion of the summer program, participants will specifically be able to:


  • Understand the inherent processes within the Asset Management industry
  • Differentiate the different Exchange Traded Funds and investment vehicles
  • Master the key pillars of market volatility
  • Gain a clear understanding of the main asset classes
  • Implement both active and passive investment strategies
  • Deliver performance within Equity and Debt Capital Market issuances
  • Understand the most popular hybrid investment products
  • Optimize portfolio management and hedging
  • Gain knowledge of the different industry actors




All core concepts will be explained during the class. There is no formal prerequisite for attendance. As the program focuses on the most recent, real-life case studies, students with a background in economics, corporate finance and accounting, are welcome and will also benefit most from the course. Students who do not have this experience may wish to consider the Corporate Finance Program offered in Intake 1 of the 2019 Summer School.



Grading is based on project-work prepared in groups. Several groups will be invited to present their work to the whole class. Individual student participation throughout the program can lead to a grading bonus.

Students who successfully complete the program will earn 7 ECTS credits.*
