Prof. Etienne Krieger

Dr. Etienne Krieger is an Affiliate Professor at HEC Paris, an advisory board member and an expert in strategy and entrepreneurial finance, ranging from startup creation and financing to scaling and exit strategies. He authored numerous books, papers, financial and business tools for entrepreneurs.

Among his academic responsibilities at HEC, Etienne is the Academic Director of the Challenge + certificate (France & Africa) and the “SME Manager: Innovation, Impact & Growth” certificate. He is also Scientific Director of the Entrepreneurship Certificate and Scientific Advisor of the MSc in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MSIE).

Etienne is a graduate of HEC Paris and holds a Ph.D. in Management Science from Paris Dauphine – PSL University. As a coach at IMT Starter and HEC’s Incubator, he has advised more than 2,000 innovative companies. He is a member of the Paris Saclay Seed Fund investment committee. He is also cofounder and/or advisor of several innovative companies, and he was a board member of Xiring, a leading security solutions provider, from its IPO until its friendly takeover by Ingenico.

Dr. Krieger mainly teaches entrepreneurial finance. He launched a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) jointly developed by HEC and Ecole Polytechnique about technology-based startup creation and development. This MOOC provided by Coursera has been followed by more than 69 000 students worldwide. He also designed the online course on Entrepreneurial Finance in HEC's Executive MSc in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

He has been consulted by the French government and several administrations about various mechanisms intended to favor innovation in small companies.
