Andreas Lanz was an Assistant Professor at HEC Paris until 2023. He is currently a marketing professor and member of the faculty board at the University of Basel. 

Andreas Lanz's research on seeding and dissemination in user-generated content networks lies primarily in the intersection between marketing, economics, and information systems, and are geared towards understanding the use of social influence for firms and its impact on society.
