Fernando is a lead author in the seventh assessment report of the IPCC — Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (Working Group III).

He is the executive director of the S&O Climate & Earth Center of HEC Paris (France) and Associate Professor Extra-ordinary in Sustainability Systems at the Department of Industrial Engineering of Stellenbosch University (South Africa). With a doctoral degree from the University of East Anglia (UK), he is a leading expert in green innovation, circularity and transformative climate resilience in business and industry.
