Succeed to Give Back: A Student’s Commitment to Inclusion
A young voice from the HEC Paris community reflects on how success can become a commitment to inclusion, sharing lessons from a field immersion focused on solidarity and social engagement.
As part of the Engagement track, led by the Sustainability & Organizations Institute (S&O Institute) at HEC Paris, Ouatara Sindou, an M1 student from Côte d’Ivoire, joined the RATP social outreach teams working in Paris metro stations. Through this immersion, he encountered the daily realities of homelessness and the challenges of rebuilding trust with vulnerable populations. The experience highlighted the importance of listening, patience and human connection in social action. For him, leadership and success only truly matter when they contribute to greater inclusion, dignity and solidarity.
