Madhulika Kaul, HEC PhD, Strategy & Business Policy, Foundation, Prize, 2025

Congratulations to Dr. Madhulika Kaul (D.23) and Yurii Handziuk for winning the 2024 HEC Foundation Prizes in recognition of their outstanding doctoral research and academic impact.

Celebrating Excellence: HEC Paris Foundation Prizes 2024

We are thrilled to announce that two of our doctoral researchers have been honored with the prestigious HEC Foundation Prizes for 2024.

Dr. Madhulika Kaul (D.23) has received the Doctoral Thesis Award for her dissertation, Essays on Digital Platforms as Private Regulators. Her work delves into the regulatory roles of digital platforms, examining how they shape online ecosystems through rule-making and enforcement mechanisms. This timely research contributes significantly to the discourse on platform regulation and digital governance.

Yurii Handziuk, currently pursuing his PhD in Finance, has been awarded the Faculty Impact Award alongside Professor Stefano Lovo. Their collaborative field experiment at the HEC Paris canteen tested the effectiveness of pricing strategies—such as taxes, bans, and information campaigns—in influencing consumer choices to reduce carbon emissions. Their findings highlight the potential of economic incentives in promoting sustainable consumer behavior.

These accolades underscore the innovative and impactful research being conducted within our doctoral programs. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to both Dr. Kaul and Yurii Handziuk for their exceptional contributions to academia and society.
