In a context of rapid technological acceleration driven by the rise of generative AI, understanding its impact on operations, customer relationships, and strategy has become a critical challenge for business leaders. The Activating AI for Business executive program offers a practical, results‑oriented approach based on the analysis and hands‑on application of real-world use cases. Participants learn how to translate business challenges into relevant AI initiatives, assess their feasibility, and measure their value in terms of productivity, ROI, and organizational impact.
The program also addresses the conditions for scaling AI deployment, integrating key dimensions such as governance, compliance, and ethics. It enables organizations to embed AI adoption that is pragmatic, strategic, and capable of creating lasting value.

At HEC Paris, artificial intelligence is increasingly deployed as a catalyst for deeper and experiential learning. When thoughtfully integrated, AI can accelerate understanding, surface implicit assumptions and sharpen managerial judgement. Equally important, it offers executives an experiential pathway to engage with AI—helping them better assess its strategic value and the organisational implications of technological transformation.
This approach is exemplified by AItelier (short for “AI Workshop”), a proprietary tool developed by Professors David Restrepo and Cathy Yang. The platform is designed to guide participants in translating real-world business challenges into structured AI use cases. It combines agentic AI architecture with curated academic research and a broad repository of applied cases, informed by contributions from global corporate partners engaged in executive Education.
Through AItelier, participants interact with a structured knowledge environment that integrates scientific evidence, historical case material and practitioner expertise. This knowledge is operationalised through specialised AI agents spanning fields such as computer science, data analytics, law and marketing. These agents do not merely provide answers; they prompt reflection, challenge assumptions and support participants in iteratively designing their use cases. The learning experience is therefore both conceptual and applied, offering insight into state-of-the-art AI while illustrating how work itself is reshaped in AI-enabled settings.
The process culminates not in automated outputs, but in collective refinement. Participants engage with faculty and peers to test, critique and improve their use cases, drawing on shared perspectives and domain expertise. In doing so, the workshop mirrors the collaborative and interdisciplinary dynamics that increasingly characterise decision-making in organisations adopting AI.
Pedagogy: The programme is delivered entirely in person and is designed to offer a comprehensive learning experience combining conceptual inputs, interactive workshops, and hands‑on practice.
Practical activities are based on an AI‑enhanced interactive Canvas, which is an HEC exclusive and proprietary tool called Aitelier, allowing participants to directly experiment with AI tools in an augmented work environment. This approach makes concepts tangible, accessible, and immediately applicable to real business challenges.
The programme emphasises experiential and social learning, encouraging peer exchanges and anchoring learning outcomes in participants’ professional contexts.
Evaluations: 2 case studies, in groups with an oral or written presentation
