Shirish C. Srivastava and Joseph Nehme awarded by the FNEGE/Syntec for research on Orange telecom

HEC Paris Professors of the Information Systems & Operations Management department Shirish C. Srivastava and Joseph Nehme (Education Track) have received the 2022 Academic Award of Research in Management ("Prix académique de la Recherche en Management") from Syntec Conseil and FNEGE, in the category "Rebuilding the relationship between business and society", for their work on Orange’s strategy to adapt to the changing technological environment.

The Academic Award of Research in Management from Syntec Conseil and FNEGE rewards the best research publications in four categories, as well as the best management book of the year.

This award has become a reference in the academic world, acclaimed by researchers in management sciences who consider it as a real opportunity to promote their work with the business world and to develop their notoriety. The 13th edition of the award ceremony took place at Neoma Business School on June 2, 2022.

In their paper, “How Orange Achieved Long-Term Adaptability and Value Creation by Proactively Transforming its Business”, published in MIS Quarterly Executive in March 2021, Shirish C. Srivastava, Joseph Nehme, Alban Luherne and Bruno Kone have studied how Orange evolved business in Africa, and then in France, by adapting its business to the changing technological environment continuously over the last two decades. In the process, quite a few lessons are abstracted for other businesses.

Following this award edition, a webinar has been devoted to reverse innovation, well illustrated by the case of the development of Orange's financial services offer, which, with Orange Money, was initially designed to meet the demand of the poorly banked African population in Ivory Coast.

The authors of the case, Shirish C. Srivastava and Joseph Nehme of HEC Paris, and Bruno Kone, Head of Sales of Orange Ivory Coast, presented and exchanged with Jean-Michel Huet, Partner at BearingPoint. Learn more in this post on LinkedIn (in French):
