Innovation Needs Market and Customer Intelligence to Succeed

Working with a deep-tech startup developing a decarbonization solution, Idris, an HEC Paris MBA student, discovered that turning technological innovation into a market-ready product means understanding customers, navigating existing supply chains, and adapting to market realities.

Through the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL Paris) program, Idris, an HEC Paris MBA student, worked with a startup developing an innovative solution for the cement industry. Tasked with exploring expansion into a new market, he discovered that even the most promising technology does not guarantee commercial success.

Bringing innovation to market requires understanding not only customer needs, but also who makes purchasing decisions, how established supply chains operate, and where collaboration can help overcome barriers to adoption.

His experience invites us to rethink successful innovation as being less about disruption and more about knowing how to adapt.
